Weddings in most Middle Eastern countries are spread out over a number of days. Each day holding a specific significance. For example, what would be called a civil marriage in the US, is commonly referred to as Katb Kitab (loosely translated to the signing of the 'book') which is a ceremony that legally binds two people as a married couple. After this momentous day, what usually happens is a Henna party, a few days before the wedding. This is where women dress up in extremely colorful clothes, Jalabiya's, dance, feast and celebrate the upcoming wedding. Since this was a women only event. I can't show you all the beautiful dresses, and beautiful souls filling them. I can show you, however, a bit of the decoration so you can see what type of planning usually goes behind setting up such a fun and colorful evening!
